Program Description:



Since its foundation in 1928, the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso (PUC-V) has established itself as one of the most prestigious institutions of the Chilean higher educational system. Its alumni body is characterized by the institutional seal: excellent academic and professional education, solid human values and strong commitment to public service.

Undertaking studies at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso is the beginning of a path to knowledge characterized by the harmonious relationship between academic tradition and the quest for solving arising problems.

With its 9 Schools and 53 academic programs, the PUC-V seeks diversity within campus, generating communication spaces that enrich students' academic life.


It is centered in Valparaíso, Chile's second largest city, which is characterized by its natural and urban beauty, and by the rich cultural environment provided by a great number of higher education institutions located here.


Areas of study open for exchange students:
  • Intensive Spanish courses: Chilean Culture and Communicative Spanish, Written Spanish, Spanish Pronunciation, Grammar for Foreigners
  • PUCV Courses (with Chilean students, in Spanish), various courses, Spanish proficiency required. 
  • Academic Stay in English semester program.
  • Summer intensive Spanish Language Course (CIE). More information can be found on their website.


Students are in home stays with Chilean families in nearby Viña del Mar.
