Program Description:

IUP students interested in experiencing Slovene culture firsthand are invited to participate in a study-abroad program at the Academy of Music of the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia. Established in 1917, the University of Ljubljana is an institution with a very rich tradition. There are thirty-five thousand undergraduate and post-graduate students in more than 130 undergraduate and 110 post-graduate programs. The majority of the university's buildings are in Ljubljana, and newer buildings have been built in the suburbs of the city.

Ljubljana is one of the smallest European capital cities with only about 280,000 residents. Most citizens are fluent in English and make tourists feel quite at home. A quaint, old town, a bustling city center, a medieval castle, and a metropolitan riverside cafe are just a few small examples of the things that give the city its beauty.

A variety courses are offered in the departments of Music. Courses are instructed in English. Language requirement is not necessary for this program. For a list of the courses offered in English, please visit their website.

Students may be provided university housing, however it is not guaranteed. Be sure to look into them quickly. Otherwise, non-university flats/apartments are available. Please contact the Program Coordinator for more information.

Students need a First Residence Permit. At the nearest diplomatic or consular representative office (DCRO) of the Republic of Slovenia you have to submit an application for First Residence Permit before your arrival. The application may be done by mail, but students must pick up the permit in person.
