UNIVERSITY OF ZAGREB

The Academy of Theater was founded in 1907, and, from the very start, its faculty was composed of the most renowned Croatian artists. Over the years, the academy has produced numerous great painters, sculptors, and printmakers, many of whom returned to teach the next generation. Throughout its history, the academy has attained very high artistic standards and created a significance of its own, in terms of both its educational standards and artistic creations.

At present, the faculty comprises more than fifty artists and scholars and has an annual enrollment of approximately 250 students into the departments of painting, graphic arts, sculpture, and art education. The academy is actively involved in the cultural and artistic events of the capital and the Republic.

ZAGREB

As the capital city of Croatia, Zagreb has a lot to offer. Zagreb is a charming, medieval city that is the cultural hub of Croatia. Visitors can discover attractions such as Jelacic Square, Maksimir Park, and the Mirogoj Cemetery that contribute to Zagreb's historical depth and beauty.

COURSEWORK

Students interested in attending the Academy of Theater can take courses on theater directing and radio, dramaturgy, editing and cinematography. Courses are taught in English.

HOUSING

Upon acceptance to the exchange program at the Academy of Arts, students will be accommodated in the Student Residence Hall, Cvjetno naselje. Descriptions of living arrangements are Directions from the airport to the residence hall is provided on their website. IUP students will pay IUP housing fee however, meal plans will not be provided.

IMMIGRATION

Exchange students staying in Croatia for a period longer than three months / 90 days need to acquire the Residence permit. Additionally, a visa is required for students coming from non-EU countries. You can apply for your permit beforehand, at the nearest Croatian embassy or consulate OR upon your arrival. If you do it in Zagreb, you will have to wait for a month or more before you get the permit in your passport.
